The Roads Around Farnborough Test Centre
Five things every Farnborough test tends to include — and what we practise for each.
Illustration only. The DVSA does not publish test routes — the examiner picks one on the day.
- 1
The business-park start
You pull out into office traffic and roundabouts within the first minute. A calm start sets up the whole test.
- 2
A325 Farnborough Road
Dual-carriageway stretches where the speed limit changes more than once. Spotting the signs early is the skill.
- 3
A331 Blackwater Valley Road
A 70mph dual carriageway. Joining from the slip road at the right speed is what examiners watch for.
- 4
Multi-lane roundabouts
Lane choice has to be made before you arrive, not on the roundabout. We drill these until they are automatic.
- 5
Cove & North Camp streets
Tight residential roads with parked cars on both sides — meeting traffic, and where your manoeuvre usually happens.
Your Test in 40 Minutes
Up to 15 minor faults is still a pass. One serious or dangerous fault is not.
Eyesight & safety
Read a number plate, answer one “tell me” question.
General driving
Normal roads, one reversing manoeuvre, one “show me” question.
Independent driving
About 20 minutes following a sat nav or road signs.

Yes, and we recommend it before you book. A mock test follows the real 40-minute format on the roads around the centre, marked the way an examiner would mark it, so you know exactly where you stand.
